I would like to recommend Lucas Jones to be a volunteer flute clinician in the Jacksonville public schools, specifically working with middle school band flute students as the founder of the Flutes 4 Kids project. Lucas is currently studying music at the University of North Florida. He was my private flute student his final two years of high school in South Florida. I found him to be a hard worker, a respectful person and a talented musician. He is also community-minded and service-oriented, participating in multiple extracurricular and volunteer activities while maintaining his studies. He has a gentle nature which will endear him to his students, as well as a can-do attitude which will be appreciated by the band directors he will be assisting. I believe he will be a dedicated asset to any band program. Middle school band is very important as it is where most woodwind and brass players get their start. Band directors are trained in all the band instruments, but rarely have the time to work with their students individually. This is where a volunteer specialist like Lucas can make a huge impact.
